2. Praying for One Another
I used to pray for myself for a long time. When I prayed, let’s say 2 hours, I prayed for myself for 1 hour and 30 minutes
and another 30 minutes for others. The only reason for that was because I wanted to grow and mature as a Christian.
I believed that the more I pray for myself, the faster I grow, and I can be a better example to the people around me as
a Christian. I think I prayed for myself too much. At first, it was good, but the more I prayed like that, the more I felt
that I was drained spiritually. I did not understand why.
(Of course, praying for ourselves is not wrong. We need to pray for ourselves before God. When we sin, we need
to repent before God for our spiritual growth. When there is something happening in our lives that we do not understand,
we can pray for that as well.)
But God started to show me the reason why I felt that way for a long time when I prayed. It was because I did not pray
for others more seriously. So, I started to pray for people. At first it was not easy. There were just too many people
that I needed to pray for. It was boring sometimes. But the more I prayed for people, the more God led my prayers into
something that can bear fruits in the lives of others and in my heart as well.
Let’s pray for one another. Let’s pray for our VIPs. Let’s spend our time for others in prayer. As we pray for others
more and more, we will get to love them deeper than before. When we pray for people that we do not like that much,
God will show us His love for them in our hearts. We will get to witness God working in the lives of those we pray for.
We will get to witness God saving souls through our prayers. Let’s pray for each other. Let’s not give up but trust in
God’s promises through His Words.
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always
keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
Ephesians 6:18
