By God’s
grace, our international congregation has Bible study groups. The Wednesday
women’s Bible study group began on February 8, 2012. While our women are
enthusiastic to learn English and the Bible, our men are not interested in
having a study at this time. For these men, Sunday school was started on July
22, 2012. Surprisingly, they were engaged in the Bible study. To motivate them
to participate in Sunday school continuously, “discipleship” was the subject of
this past Sunday's sermon. The first followers of Jesus can be classified as 12
disciples, 72 followers, and crowds, some of which numbered in the thousands.
These followers were illustrated in concentric circles around Jesus. When asked
in which circle he wanted to be, Sa Wah answered that he wanted to be in the 72
followers group. He thought that the 12 disciple circle might be too close to
Jesus; the 72 follower circle seemed to him to be less burdensome. Sa Wah’s
answer gives us something to chew on. Which circle do you think you are
occupying now? Is it where you want to be? Are you afraid of getting “too
close” to Jesus?

하나님의 은혜로 다민족 교우들이 성경공부모임을 갖고 있습니다. 수요 여자 성경공부 모임은 2012년 2월 8일 시작했습니다. 자매님들은 영어나 성경 공부를 열심히 하지만, 형제님들은 지금까지 성경 공부에 흥미가 없었습니다. 이런 형제님들을 위해 주일 성경 공부 반을 2012년 7월 22일부터 시작했습니다. 놀랍게도 형제님들이 성경공부에 참석했습니다. 지속적인 성경공부 참여를 위해 지난 주일 설교 주제는 “제자 훈련”이었습니다. 처음 예수님을 따르던 무리를 12 제자, 72명의 전도단, 수천 명에 이르는 군중으로 분류할 수 있습니다. 어떤 무리 중에 속하고 싶으냐는 질문에 싸와가 대답하길 12명의 제자 가운데 속하기엔 예수님과 너무 가깝고 72명 무리에 속하는 것이 부담이 덜할 것 같다고 했습니다. 싸와의 대답이 무언가 음미할 거리를 주는군요. 지금 당신은 어느 무리에 속해 있다고 생각하십니까? 그것이 당신이 속하기 원하는 무리인가요? 혹시, 주님과 가까워지는 것이 두려우신가요?
